CATAPILLARS HAVE TO BECOME BUTTERFLIES!
Today is the first day of school around here and I've been watching many of the moms on Twitter and Face Book commenting on how they feel about their child's first day, either preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, Middle School and High School. I think it's interesting to notice where moms experience their emotional surges!!! It happens at all the "firsts". Now don't get me wrong, I went thru the same emotions...I'm a mom! But as I was thinking about what I was watching it made me wonder..."Why don't we get that emotional about every step our children make"? Are they not just as important? I hear the moms say that they are "sad". I can't really say that what I felt was sadness. Maybe I'm just different...I feel (or felt) "pride". Pride that my children were growing and learning and becoming a person that might just do something that could...cure cancer! The possibilities are endless! The tears I cried weren't tears of sadness, rather tears of joy watching this miracle that God had entrusted to me making such great and wonderful strides. I also had fear! Fear that someone would be mean to, or hurt, my child. Yes...I had all those emotions just like all moms do...but I'm here to tell you that you, and they, will survive. Over the years to come you will do and see mind-boggling things. Just encourage them and watch them...it will 'BLOW YOU AWAY" to see what they become. To watch this child, your child, grow into an adult and become what God intended them to be is AWESOME! I know it's hard to see it now, and time flies, but one day you will look up and see these amazing people standing in front of you and say "WOW! Look what God did"!

Removing Gummy Glue on a Glass Jar
Removing Gummy Glue on a Glass Jar
How many time have you tried to get that sticky label off of a jar? You soak and scrub and still wind up with sticky places that never seem to come off. Try this trick: Put the jar in the microwave with a damp towel over it. Microwave on low and check every 30 seconds to see if the heat is softening the glue. Then you should be able to pull the label off.

CELEBRITY CHEF VIP PARTY
This past Saturday (8/15/09) I was privileged to attend a Celebrity Chef VIP Party at the beautiful Esmeralda Hotel located in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Nestled within the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, The Esmeralda is a premier destination for any occasion. Tension melts away as you relax and take in the absolutely stunning views of Chimney Rock, the Rocky Broad River, and the surrounding Hickory Nut Gorge.
And as if that wasn't enough, VH1's Celebrity Chef, Michael Parise is opening "Parise's New American Bistro" in The Esmeralda. Parise’s New American Bistro will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and will be featuring, Traditional American comfort foods with complimentary wine pairings, and "farm to table" local produce.
After spending the evening with the charismatic Chef Parise and sampling his tantalizing fare I am sure this new partnership will be a huge success. Don't take my word for it, make reservations now and enjoy this extraordinary experience for yourself.
Not to leave anyone out, I want to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the other special guests as well:

TECHNOLOGY IS GREAT!
I'm all for origination, and before any of the new "Social Media" came along there was IMs (instant messengers). I had friends on all the different networks and therefore I had to have all of them open and switch back and forth in order to communicate (AOL, Yahoo, MSN...) so I was delighted when I came across a program that would allow me to only use one screen but still IM everyone. I first found Trillian which allowed me to connect with everyone, but now, for those of you who still like to IM but still want to keep up with Twitter and Facebook, ...let me introduce you to Digsby! This program covers it all..."Instant Messaging" "Email Notifications" and "Social Networking". You have to check it out for all the stuff it does. Trillian is good if you only want to IM but Digsby does it all! I love it!

WORLD CAT DAY!!!
Today we celebrate "World Cat Day"! Now I'm an animal lover, but I have a special place in my heart for cats (at one time I had 20) =0. I don't have the time or the space to list them all but there were MANY and they were, and still are, loved very much. As I sit here now, Tipper is on the printer beside me, I hear someone in the living room playing, Prissy is in her "room" and Lacy is probably on the prowl somewhere. I dread the day when one of them must cross the rainbow bridge because they are all very special to me. They help me keep my sanity! They comfort me when I'm sad or lonely. They try to feed me when they think I can't get out and hunt for myself (I could do without that =[. And they cuddle with me and keep me warm when I don't feel good. They don't judge me or talk back...they accept me for who I am and all they ask in return is to be loved and fed. If you are a cat owner, give them something special today and let them know they are special to you.
This is Pepper (sometimes referred to as "mean kitty" because she likes to boss the others around. When she was about 8 weeks old someone threw her out of a car window as they drove by and we rescued her.
This is Lacy. She is the shy one.
Next is Tipper. She loves to talk to you and loves to cuddle. She got her name because the tip of her tail was black when she was born. It's kinda gray now.
Last, but not least, is Prissy. She is the mother of Tipper and sister of Lacy and she lives up to her name!
Happy "World Cat Day" kitters!

Thank you Hal (BucketKing)!
I became aware of Hal (BucketKing) on Twitter when he posted some of the wildlife picture he had taken. I wanted to share them with you as well because I think they are so beautiful. This picture is of Cattle Egrets in their breeding plumage. Normally, a Cattle Egret would have a yellow beak, no lavender, red or orange, and the amber feathers are much less prominent. He called this picture "Family Conference"!
I am just amazed at the beauty of these creatures. If you're on Twitter, please look up the "BucketKing" and give Hal a shout. He is from Fort Myers, Florida and enjoys photography (as you can see), cycling and calls himself a "traderguy". Thanks Hal for sharing your love of photography with us.
